About Vintage Funk and Junk
Timeline
With the love of vintage in their hearts and entrepreneurship on their minds, Vintage Funk and Junk was born January 2011 to proud parents, Hannah Tolliver and Chaz Hinzman. At the time of conception, Hannah was attending Stephens College, an all women’s institute, where ironically, she met Chaz, a dance major. Senior year, while her classmates worked to polish their portfolios and actively search for job openings, Hannah diligently created VFJ’s business plan (with the help of many Monster energy drinks and Starburst candies) which eventually led us here, to this very page, to this very sentence (and 10lbs heavier). Today, VFJ has come to life with the help of many people and two very supportive, nocturnal cats, Donaghy and Newman.
About Us
All of Vintage Funk and Junk’s products are 100% authentic vintage (no replicas please) and hand-picked by Hannah and her mom. WE LOVE MOMS! We realize not everyone is comfortable dressing head-to-toe in vintage or decorating their home in all vintage goods (all though we do encourage it), therefore we have hand-selected merchandise that we feel is wearable and able to be applied to a modern lifestyle. Who says secondhand clothing can’t be fashionable?
Don’t let us fool you; we’re really in it for the vintage! We want our customers to fall in love with vintage as much as we are. That is why we have created a blog with the main goal of educating consumers about vintage items and how to incorporate vintage into everyday life. Our blog serves as an outlet for all things unconventional in this modern world.
And now we leave you with a quote from the famous fashion photographer Cecil Beaton:
Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary.”
